In with the old

1958 North Avenue, at the six-corner intersection of North, Damen, and Milwaukee, was built in the 1870s with a corner turret, cornice, and mansard roof — post-Fire detail largely lost to 1960s alterations. Long home to bars and clubs (Cafe Absinthe, the Wicker Park Tavern), Envoi’s 2022 restoration rebuilt the original turret. Today: 9 leased luxury apartments, a roof deck, and a Chase branch.
